Medical Center of Trinity's Sleep Center offers a comfortable environment for sleep studies to help diagnose sleep disorders. Our state-of-the-art equipment helps ensure we provide high quality studies to help accurately diagnose sleep disorders. Good quality sleep studies allow physicians to get to the root of patients''' sleep disorders, treat them and help them lead more productive, rewarding lives. In the case of sleep apnea, proper diagnosis could be lifesaving.
How Does Overnight Testing Work?
Not all sleep disorders require an overnight sleep study, but for those that do, patients referred for testing will spend one night in a sleeping area. During a diagnostic sleep study, sleep medicine specialists monitor you throughout the evening and take key measurements while you sleep to determine if there are any problems. This includes monitoring your oxygen saturation and carbon dioxide levels, as well as measuring sleep parameters to determine the appropriate amount of oxygen required during sleep.
The procedure is called a polysomnogram (PSG). The PSG is painless and allows the patient to sleep normally.
Home Sleep Testing
Medical Center of Trinity offers Home Sleep Testing with the convenience of direct mail for our patients.
If a patient is ordered for a Home Sleep Test, we will mail the unit directly to their home with complete instructions. The unit is very simple to use and the patient will also be given a 24 hour number to call should there be any questions.
Once the unit is worn for a night, it is placed back in the box and mailed back to us for download and interpretation.
